During the year that Dean thought Sam was in Hell, Lisa noticed that Dean would always rub at his sternum whenever he had an idle moment.
After she noticed it once she couldn’t stop not noticing that whenever Dean would come to a stop in a room and look around, he would rub at the center of his chest.
Finally she asked him if she needed to take him to a doctor to have his chest looked at if it was bothering him.
He blinked at her for a second before saying that he was fine and that she shouldn’t worry.
He had been reaching for his amulet.
He hadn’t even noticed that he’d been doing it.
